Healthy Substitutes For Popular Items That Seem Hard To Give Up

Now, let me provide you with some exact healthy alternatives if you do find yourself craving a specific item at times, until you master this new diet.

Healthy Substitutes For Popular Items That Seem Hard To Give Up

I am craving some fries Eat any of the potato based dishes provided in this article. Trust me, the craving will disappear, you will be satisfied and coming from a food connoisseur, any of the Roots for dipping dishes in this chapter REALLY do taste better. (Especially when using Japanese yams and Hass Avocadoes!)
I am craving some Chili Cheese fries Okay, the last time I had this, the first thought that popped in my head was this tastes like the “Porridge” dish I have provided here, especially if I use Garnett Yams. In fact, when using ORGANIC yams with the exact way I have outlined the recipe, the porridge tastes better and has a consistency that seems to disappear from the Cheese Fries. Trust me, I have tried Carl’s Jr, McDonald’s Burger King, no they don’t hold a torch to the simple, yet way much healthier porridge dish in this chapter!
I am craving some Chinese food Simply refer to any of my rice dishes in here.
I am craving some Pizza What you are most likely craving is cheese (fat) and Carbohydrates (basically), simply try any of the potato dishes in this article or if you must, again you can try the grain based dishes.
I am craving some ice-cream No Worries, Try any of my smoothie recipes in this Chapter (emphasis on Chocolate Milk, Papaya Passion and Strawberry Delight)
I gotta have some chips, cookies, candy Well, per the information given in this article, what you are really craving is carbohydrates. So, try the fastest fast food-Bananas! For all the benefits this fruit has as listed in this article of this book, you will be doing yourself and your body a whole lot of favors. Plus, bananas are sweet!
Meat Eaters: I gotta have some catfish, bacon! Oh Lord, Even though I don’t advocate eating meat and don’t eat meat myself, you can have PROPERLY REARED Salmon, Bass, Beef or Chicken instead. Dear Friend, we’ve gone over this elsewhere. Not only is it going against God’s law to eat such animals, it’s scientifically and medically unsafe!
New Vegetarians: Okay, I agree with you Foras, I am better off not eating meat, but right now I am craving some chicken or beef…what do you suggest? Hmm. When I swore meat off, I sort of never went back to it and never really craved meats of any kind. I mean what do they provide except protein mainly? Well, maybe because I was and am not protein deficient, becoming a vegetarian, then eventually a mostly-fruitarian, has not been difficult for me. However, on the note of Chickens, though not an ideal substance to eat per se, owing to its alkaline properties (as discussed elsewhere in this blog), Portobello and Shitake Mushrooms do taste like chicken. (I have confirmed this with a few conventional eaters by the way.)
What about Coffee? Well, my friend, may I refer you to www.teeccino.com
I need something with cheese! The Good Lord gave us avocadoes and you could add some salt.
Can I have a bagel, sandwich, steamed rice Again, you are most likely in need of high carbohydrate foods for your energy needs. Simply eat a lot more seasonal sweet fruits  Bananas, Baked or Boiled Plantains (see this article for the recipes) or any of the potato based dishes in the same chapter.
I need some vinegar for my salad, see I am eating Salads Foras…!! My dear Friend, use some Lemon or Lime Juice instead and read up this article for why Lemons are so good for you!
Can I use some salt? Hmm, yes, just make sure it’s uniodized sea-salt.
I gotta have something with chocolate It’s either you want something sweet, then simply eat a lot of sweet fruits. Or, if you want to add it to a smoothie or something, replace chocolate with Carob.
Wait a minute, no milk?! Dear Friend, please read this and see why even MEDICAL DOCTORS say milk and all dairy should be avoided. Don’t believe the hype promoted by people who endorse the use of dairy basically for their own gain.
What if I want to eat out? If you care about basic hygiene and cleanliness, I wouldn’t recommend such a practice.

Well, it is my hope that the table above will come in handy for you to be able to make the right choices when it comes to eating for health AND the best substitutes to be able to avoid temptations that may lead to past mistakes and errors.

Here’s To A Healthier You,

Foras

How To Avoid Binges, Cravings and Cheating On A New Diet. (Part 2)

Now let’s continue with part 1 of this article.

Upon observation, it should be noted that the average person has a bowl of cereal with milk, along with some toast and jam for breakfast. Nibbles on some bagels, chips or cookies for snacks, goes to Subway, McDonald’s etc for lunch, snacks some more, then has takeout or cooks pasta or some other dish for dinner. Finally, they may see an apple lying around somewhere and say “Oh, let me snack on that apple.”

When you add that up, that’s A LOT of calories. So, to still be able to function and meet your caloric needs, you have to eat a lot of fruit. I can eat a whole watermelon in one sitting and afterwards 5-6 mangoes all in one day and I don’t view that as too much, I just follow my appetite. Therefore, eating a lot of fruit is something you would have to learn to meet your caloric needs.

As Dr. Doug Graham states: “When prospective healthy eaters go off their plant based regimen, they almost invariably find themselves eating cooked complex carbohydrates like Baked Goods, Fried Potatoes etc. Until they learn to consume high amounts of sweet fruits to fulfill their carbohydrate needs, they will invariably fail in their health and raw-food efforts.”

That is so true. I can tell you first hand, in the past when I used to binge, I almost always craved Fries, (a lot of fries I mean 6 large fries was not an unusual order for me), Chinese Food (Rice and chow mein), Pringles, Cheddar Cheese Chips, Vanilla Cookies, “Veggie Burgers” and Ice Cream.

Now save for the last item (being a sweet dairy product), what do you notice about the rest? They are all high carbohydrate based items-with a few having a lot of fat.

However, I noticed that when I started to eat more sweet fruit, the cravings and binges stopped to the point where I hardly even have the urge to binge and this lack of an urge is even more intensified when I found myself saying that Fries, for example, are nothing but dipping some boiled Japanese Yams in slightly salted avocadoes-at least to me.

In fact for every favorite dish that I have noticed most people eat, I can provide a healthy substitute based on my experiences and taste buds.

My dear Readers, I would like for you to remember some facts.

-Cravings may lead to binges but binges don’t always follow cravings.

-Binges usually arise from a physiological imbalance such as not getting enough calories for energy needs by eating a lot of fruit. So you most likely end up binging on A LOT of different items to compensate for insufficient calories and admittedly the excitement.

-However, cravings, on the other hand, are a conscious physical or psychological desire for a PARTICULAR food or substance.

Keeping that in mind, it should be noted in this instance, that a craving is usually a withdrawal symptom and does not reflect a physiological need. For example, an ex-smoker may feel a craving for cigarettes, a former coffee drinker will crave for coffee after giving it up or a former alcoholic may crave some drinks after they have quit drinking.

In all the afore mentioned instances, it’s not a need for these substances that is the case but more the poisons of such items finding their way out of the system. Similarly, when giving up table salt, junk food, meat (unclean and improperly cooked/raised ones) etc, the body may crave these substances for a while but the temptations must be resisted.

On that note, to avoid both binges and cravings, again, I have to recommend the lemonade recipe provided herewith. I am doing so because the lemons have the ability to neutralize the poisons as they flow through the blood while you are being cleansed. Moreover, being the richest source of vitamins and minerals known to man, to avoid binges especially due to insufficient nutrition, one great line of defense will be to get all your vitamin and mineral needs from this solution of lemon juice and water.

In addition, I can tell you first hand that after drinking this exact lemonade, I rarely feel hungry until later on in the day around 6 pm or so) and when I do have time to drink the juice concoction I have provided in the All You Need to Know About Fasting and Cleansing” Article in this blog, I can honestly say I don’t feel hungry at all-but simply eat for the fun of it, honestly.

I am bringing this up so you as a potential beginner will not fall prey to binges and cravings.

Here’s to Great Health and happiness and if needed, Check out the following article for Healthy Recipes To Help Deal Cravings.

Disease Forming Foods Vs Healing Foods

Before we go much further into this article, I want to bring to your attention that there are basically two kinds of foods. The ones that heal and nourish the body and the ones that poison it. This is plain and simple.

Coincidentally, scientists, biologists and nutritionists label them as acid/mucus forming and alkaline/mucus binding foods.

That being stated, it should be noted that balanced body chemistry is of utmost importance for the maintenance of health and correction of diseases.

Acidosis, or over-acidity in the body tissues, is one of the basic causes of many diseases, especially the arthritic and rheumatic ones.

All foods are “burned” in the body–more commonly called “digested”– leaving an ash as the result of the “burning”, or the digestion. This food ash can be neutral, acid or alkaline, depending largely on the mineral composition of the foods. Some foods leave an acid residue or ash, some leave the opposite-which is an alkaline residue. The acid ash (acidosis) results when there is a depletion of the alkaline reserve or the reduction in the reserve supply of fixed alkaline bases in the blood and the tissues of the body.

It is therefore very important that there is a proper ratio between acid and alkaline foods in the diet.

When such an ideal ratio is maintained, the body has a strong resistance against disease. In the healing of disease, when the patient usually has acidosis, the higher the ratio of alkaline elements in the diet, the faster it will be for the patient to recover due to the fact that alkalis neutralize the acids. Therefore in the treatment of most diseases it is important that the patient’s diet includes plenty of alkaline/mucus removing foods to offset the effects of acid-forming foods and leave a safe level or supply of alkalinity.

A healthy body usually keeps large alkaline reserves that are used to meet the emergency demands if too many acid-producing foods are consumed. However, these normal reserves can be reduced. When the alkaline-acid ratio drops to 3 to 1, health can be seriously tampered with. Therefore, do keep in mind that your body can function normally and sustain health only in the presence of adequate alkaline reserves and the proper acid- alkaline ratio in all the body tissues and the blood.

It is worth mentioning that the main reason acidosis is more common in our society is mostly due to the typical American diet.

Dare I say this applies to mankind on a global scale. Man’s diet today in most ‘advanced’ or industrialized countries is too high in acid producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy, and far too low in alkaline producing foods like fresh vegetables and fruits.

In addition, a lot of people eat acid producing processed foods like white flour and sugar and drink acid producing beverages like coffee and soft drinks. Several people use too many drugs, which are acid forming; and we use artificial chemical sweeteners like NutraSweet, Spoonful, Sweet ‘N Low, Equal, or Aspartame, which are basically poison and also extremely acid forming.

Consequently, suffice it to say that one of the best things we can do to correct an overly acidic body is to clean up one’s diet and lifestyle. It’s really not that difficult or extreme, stop eating the acid/disease forming foods and to replace them with the alkaline/body healing foods.

Generally, alkaline forming foods include: most fruits, green and root vegetables and some miscellaneous items, on the other hand acid forming foods include: meat, fish, poultry, eggs, grains, and legumes and ALL PROCESSED FOODS (canned, junk, convenience, instant etc).

That being stated, another interesting yet noteworthy factor is that although it might seem that citrus fruits would have an acidifying effect on the body, the citric acid they contain actually has an alkalinizing effect in the system.

Note that a food’s acid or alkaline forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example, lemons are very acidic; however the end products they produce after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline so, lemons are alkaline forming in the body. Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion, however, it leaves a very acidic residue in the body so, like all animal products, meat is very acid forming.

At this stage, one could ask: “well, why do we eat so much acid foods?”

To answer that question, several reasons come to mind and it must be stressed that after years of misinformation, influences by media, habits passed on from generation to generation, millions of dollars spent on marketing and what really is false advertising, we, as a people are now facing more dietary based health challenges than ever before.

What’s more disturbing but not a surprise per se, is that it is no coincidence that the rapidly growing numbers of cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes connects almost exactly with the rise in consumption of acid forming foods such as sugars, trans fats, fast food, refined food and white breads.

On the other hand, our consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables has decreased dramatically.

Therefore, for optimal health and maximum resistance to disease, it is imperative that your diet is slightly over-alkaline.

Acid forming foods (such as ALL processed foods, white sugar, white flour, carbonated beverages and artificial chemical sweetener’s like NutraSweet, Equal, or Aspartame) should be eliminated or at least drastically reduced. In addition, you would do better with the least amount of meat and milk products as they are very productive of mucus and hinder the optimal digestion of foods and the proper absorption of nutrients.

The internal balance of your pH is very important, however, on an unfortunate note, few medical practitioners in western medicine are aware of the major role it plays in causing diseases or for whatever reason choose not to divulge this to their patients if in fact they do know this. Then again look at most doctors, several of them are ironically enough not great pictures of health.

That being stated, fresh fruits and vegetables are alkaline forming in the body and contain many electrolyte minerals that help to maintain a healthy pH balance of 7.4 and a reserve of critical electrolytes.

Alkalizing the body fluids (raising pH) is one of the single most important health regeneration benefits available as disease causing microforms (fungi, bacteria, virus etc.) cannot survive in an alkaline oxygenated environment.

Therefore, for your edification, here are tables of common foods with an approximate potential acidity (disease forming potential) or alkalinity (healing potential), as present in one ounce of food.

In addition to the text provided, do note that such practices as fertilizing by too much minerals can also make harmless foods, harmful or at least reduce their good properties.

Now, the acid | alkaline food tables are provided for illustration purposes. The fact that some foods might be listed as mucus binding (alkaline) doesn’t mean its use is endorsed per se. This text focuses on mainly fruits and vegetables.

Well, it is my hope that this article has illustrated in as much detail as possible the sources of Disease Forming and Body Healing Foods. It is also my hope that you as a reader will make the necessary adjustments for your own benefits.

P.S. Here is An Article On Common Pollutants In our Households that we would want to avoid or at least drastically reduce using on a daily basis.

Understanding How the Body Cleanses and Builds Itself

It should be pointed out that our system goes through a cleansing process from twelve midnight until twelve noon, and a building program from twelve noon to twelve midnight. Therefore, what is eaten during these respective periods must be harmonious with the natural processes. The following suggestions take this natural process into account.

To be more specific about what occurs; the body heals at night (between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.). The end result of this nightly or daily healing process is mucus (which is why we wake up with mucus, having to get rid of loads of it) and feces (which is why we usually have a bowel movement upon rising).

The bowel movement is usually simultaneous with urinating, which is a very good healthy sign. The peak time for the large intestine is 5-7 a.m., which explains the early morning bowel movement. Yes, our organs have peak times and low times that if we are in tune with can play a more conscious role in our health on all levels.

So with that being said, eating in a way that is in tune with this time frame will be the most ideal and beneficial to the body.

Folks, you should know that in most people, a lot of hunger nowadays is the result of an impacted, clogged and overfilled colon in addition to the fact that the food made of the processed food industrial complex is feeding the population with lifeless food devoid of nutrition. So, chips, ice-cream and so on, have little or no nutrition and that perhaps is why people eat loads of them unknowingly.

It should be pointed out that when we unwisely eat these denatured and devalued so-called foods, it causes the body to crave more food in an attempt to feed our body things of nutritional substance which would undoubtedly satisfy the hunger pangs. The sad irony here is the more people partake of denatured and devalued so-called foods (i.e., fast food, junk food), the more our bodies crave them in an attempt to get nutrition. In addition, many of us also eat out of habit. Many people don’t even have to be hungry. They’ll just eat for the sake of eating.

So, when you are constantly eating dead, so-called foods which lack necessary enzymes for purposes of peristalsis (bowel movement), you eventually become clogged or constipated and chronic constipation leads to the degeneration of the colon which starts the physical aging process.

At this stage, the worst and by far the unhealthiest habit people partake in is eating breakfast. Contrary to popular belief, for fully grown adults, no solid food should be eaten in the morning. It is also best that no more than two meals a day be eaten even though the quantity you eat could be as much as if 3 or 4 meals were eaten. Another very important rule when eating for health is simplicity. In other words, try not to mix too many kinds of food at one meal. If you count the different number of items in the average meal of today, the total will appall any reasonable person.

The only time that the average person doesn’t eat for several hours is during the night while sleeping (that is if they don’t wake up to get a ‘snack’) . As soon as the body notices that no more food is coming into the digestive system, it starts the elimination and cleansing process of a fast, that’s why many people wake up with a heavily coated tongue, bad morning breath and feel tired or weak and usually have no appetite at all. This is a mystery that is now being explained. As soon as one refills the stomach with food, the elimination and cleansing stops and a person feels better. This may illustrate how eating (especially the wrong foods) became a habit and is no longer what Nature intended it should be.

This should be curtailed for the best of health, hence the reason why you are being presented with a diet and schedule that is more streamlined to how the body is intended to work and really it’s not that hard. In fact, most people unconsciously eat with this time-frame in mind every day by skipping breakfast, drinking coffee or something else then eating around 11 am or so. It is the same idea, just substitute the unflavored lemonade for the coffee and your favorite seasonal fruits for the unhealthy items. Therefore, this is quite easy (and healthier) –with a few adjustments here and there.

So Here are Some Other Essentials You Will Need

-Will Power and Willingness to break away from dogma and convention!

-Trips to the Farmer’s Markets, Co-Ops (e.g. Trader Joes), Produce Stores

-Filtered, Purified Water

-Lemons: Easily 20 a week is not a high number

-Environne Fruit and Vegetable Wash: Trader Joe’s has it or you could buy a 3 pack off Amazon for $18

-Furthermore, remember to try to stay calm and immobile as much as possible after eating by sitting upright for about 6-15 minutes after (and in between) eating each meals of fruits and vegetables.

Have a Blessed and Awesome day,

Foras Aje
