Try Eating Like Daniel For Better Health (Part 1)

For anyone who knows the story of Daniel, I would like to inform you at this stage that what he, (along with 3 of his companions), reportedly ate for 10 days that ended up making the four of them look better and be in better health than the other captives who had been eating the standard food of the King at that time (leading to them having very prominent positions in the King’s service) is what forms the basis of the recipes, diet and menus you will see here.

Some other websites call it ‘The Daniel Diet’ or ‘The Daniel Fast’ while others call it the Mucus-Less Diet

From Daniel 1:3-7 these verses indicate the simple diet chosen by Daniel was a combination of fruits, vegetables and water. Nearly all Bible translations interpret this diet using either the words vegetables, pulse or even grain. Nonetheless, so you won’t miss out on the fun of eating, yet still eat a healthier way; do refer to my recipe section here.

Moreover, on an interesting note and something that may appear shocking yet could be true. According to a website listed below, do you know the Daniel Diet could very well help in controlling and eventually curing AIDS? (Please note, I said ‘COULD’ it has not been documented by the powers that be or the medical fraternity per se. However, I won’t be shocked, I got rid of Asthma another incurable disease years ago so, I won’t put it past this Diet intermingled with a Lemon /Orange juice fast to cure this ailment!)

Disclaimer: NOW, THIS IS NOT A LICENSE TO PARTAKE IN PROMISCUOUS SEX THINKING YOU CAN CURE HIV WITH LEMON JUICE…prevention is still the best bet.

Friends, I have been there and I understand that it may take a while to adjust and transition to eating healthy foods only, but dear friends, just for the sake of health, while you may be battling binges and cravings (if indeed they should arise), please try to eat the healthy foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner and with time, begin to let go of the harmful items one-by-one.

I really feel eating a variety of sweet fruits all day and fruit-vegetables (e.g. Avocadoes, Tomatoes) and vegetables at night can’t be that hard for the majority of people. However, if it is in fact difficult for you, consider the following.

*Sweet Fruits can replace Candy, cookies etc

*Lemon juice can replace Vinegar

*Dates can replace candy (*Look for the Barhi or Honey dates that literally melt in your mouth like a Snicker Bar. Come on, you can’t tell me that dates don’t taste just as good or even better than candy bars?!! In addition, you should look into fresh dates when purchasing these fruits; they are still just as sweet and hydrating.)

*Brown rice, Barley Millet can replace Pasta

*Making your own Sauces with Tomatoes, Chopped Celery and Green Onions can replace purchasing all the store bought ones.

*Avocados, Unrefined Oils (e.g. Coconut & Olive Oils) can replace butter, cream (anything fattening)

*Using the homemade dressings can replace store bought ones for salads.

*Experimenting with all the thousands of fruits in the world can replace eating the SAME junk food.(day-in-day out)

*Any of the clean meats (when organically raised) can replace their unclean counterparts…(if you must eat meat that is and if you must, try to consume just one kind of meat on any given day boiled, roasted or baked and consume lots of vegetables and fruits to offset some of its harmful effects-yet again, for more information.)

*Being healthy can and should replace being sick!!

Now, a specific menu is elaborated upon along with applicable seasons and the proper order of fruit consumption in elsewhere in this blog, but for a basic idea, here is a format:

1. Morning: Lemonade (till about 11 am with the specific recipe for this-and why-given in this article. On a side note, it should be noted that when squeezed in water, lemons can help with any detoxification and withdrawal symptoms that one may have from using harmful substances. The resulting solution/lemonade from this recipe also cleanses the blood and alimentary canal of all such substances. In addition, lemons and limes are indeed the richest sources of vitamins and minerals known to humans.) It would be better for all concerned not to eat anything before 10 o’clock AM and then nothing but fruits. The reward for this little self-discipline will certainly be gained shortly especially if eating fruits and vegetables is kept up unfailingly.

2. Lunch: Fruits (3-5 of whatever is in season BUT one at a time-)

3. Dinner:

Option 1:

Vegetables (Raw or Properly Steamed/Baked/Cooked Leafy & or Root Vegetables as the case may be)

Option 2:  (For those who feel they must eat meat, I present this option)

Non-Starchy Vegetables (Salads, Steamed or Baked Leafy Vegetables) & Some Clean Meat-(properly slaughtered and bled) boiled, baked, grilled only with some Un-Iodized Sea Salt.
