How To Avoid Binges, Cravings and Cheating On A New Diet. (Part 2)

Now let’s continue with part 1 of this article.

Upon observation, it should be noted that the average person has a bowl of cereal with milk, along with some toast and jam for breakfast. Nibbles on some bagels, chips or cookies for snacks, goes to Subway, McDonald’s etc for lunch, snacks some more, then has takeout or cooks pasta or some other dish for dinner. Finally, they may see an apple lying around somewhere and say “Oh, let me snack on that apple.”

When you add that up, that’s A LOT of calories. So, to still be able to function and meet your caloric needs, you have to eat a lot of fruit. I can eat a whole watermelon in one sitting and afterwards 5-6 mangoes all in one day and I don’t view that as too much, I just follow my appetite. Therefore, eating a lot of fruit is something you would have to learn to meet your caloric needs.

As Dr. Doug Graham states: “When prospective healthy eaters go off their plant based regimen, they almost invariably find themselves eating cooked complex carbohydrates like Baked Goods, Fried Potatoes etc. Until they learn to consume high amounts of sweet fruits to fulfill their carbohydrate needs, they will invariably fail in their health and raw-food efforts.”

That is so true. I can tell you first hand, in the past when I used to binge, I almost always craved Fries, (a lot of fries I mean 6 large fries was not an unusual order for me), Chinese Food (Rice and chow mein), Pringles, Cheddar Cheese Chips, Vanilla Cookies, “Veggie Burgers” and Ice Cream.

Now save for the last item (being a sweet dairy product), what do you notice about the rest? They are all high carbohydrate based items-with a few having a lot of fat.

However, I noticed that when I started to eat more sweet fruit, the cravings and binges stopped to the point where I hardly even have the urge to binge and this lack of an urge is even more intensified when I found myself saying that Fries, for example, are nothing but dipping some boiled Japanese Yams in slightly salted avocadoes-at least to me.

In fact for every favorite dish that I have noticed most people eat, I can provide a healthy substitute based on my experiences and taste buds.

My dear Readers, I would like for you to remember some facts.

-Cravings may lead to binges but binges don’t always follow cravings.

-Binges usually arise from a physiological imbalance such as not getting enough calories for energy needs by eating a lot of fruit. So you most likely end up binging on A LOT of different items to compensate for insufficient calories and admittedly the excitement.

-However, cravings, on the other hand, are a conscious physical or psychological desire for a PARTICULAR food or substance.

Keeping that in mind, it should be noted in this instance, that a craving is usually a withdrawal symptom and does not reflect a physiological need. For example, an ex-smoker may feel a craving for cigarettes, a former coffee drinker will crave for coffee after giving it up or a former alcoholic may crave some drinks after they have quit drinking.

In all the afore mentioned instances, it’s not a need for these substances that is the case but more the poisons of such items finding their way out of the system. Similarly, when giving up table salt, junk food, meat (unclean and improperly cooked/raised ones) etc, the body may crave these substances for a while but the temptations must be resisted.

On that note, to avoid both binges and cravings, again, I have to recommend the lemonade recipe provided herewith. I am doing so because the lemons have the ability to neutralize the poisons as they flow through the blood while you are being cleansed. Moreover, being the richest source of vitamins and minerals known to man, to avoid binges especially due to insufficient nutrition, one great line of defense will be to get all your vitamin and mineral needs from this solution of lemon juice and water.

In addition, I can tell you first hand that after drinking this exact lemonade, I rarely feel hungry until later on in the day around 6 pm or so) and when I do have time to drink the juice concoction I have provided in the All You Need to Know About Fasting and Cleansing Article in this blog, I can honestly say I don’t feel hungry at all-but simply eat for the fun of it, honestly.

I am bringing this up so you as a potential beginner will not fall prey to binges and cravings.
