Do These Bible Health Laws Even Matter? (Part 1)

What about all the people who eat whatever and are doing just fine?

Dear Friends, being fit and able to function does not equate to good health. Many times, people who appear healthy could suddenly die from a heart attack since the truth is they were never healthy to begin with. They only appeared to be healthy, but on the inside, things were not working the way they should have.

In addition, let’s not fool ourselves, if someone is doing their best to be healthy and still gets sick on some occasions, it doesn’t mean that what they are doing is entirely wrong. Other factors matter such as: Genetics, environment, stress, past illness history, use of household chemicals etc. Therefore, assigning every health problem to diet alone is erroneous.

Delving further into this matter, virtually everyone past the age of 50 who lives on a standard diet takes some kind of drug or medicine. Virtually everyone has to use deodorant, toothpaste etc to hide odors of decay and disease emitting from their bodies.

However, for those who don’t eat disease forming foods, though we all have to die at some point, the QUALITY of our lives are usually better. So, it’s not about the quantity of life (or how long we are alive), but rather the quality of life. Yes, we all ‘gotta go’ at some point as it is written: “it is appointed to all men to die once…” but how well we are during the time allotted to each of us is ultimately what matters the most.

Even if ‘regular’ eaters show a cheerful disposition, in private they don’t talk about their daily misery and pains. In some instance, they fight insomnia and fatigue with coffee, red-bull & energizer pills.

In other cases, constipation is dealt with through laxatives, sadness with alcohol, depression with drugs, headaches with painkillers, asthma with inhalers, etc

We may look at them and think they are doing well, but really, when you hang around them for long enough, you will see that is not the case.

In addition, even the rare person who suffers from nothing (but by the way inevitably will still have foul breath, body odor, the need to use glasses or contact lenses etc) can pass disease on to their offspring.

Besides, what’s the popular saying? If everyone jumps off the cliff, would you do it too?

So, do your best and leave the rest to God.

He says:

“If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, ALL WILL BE WELL WITH YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you for all time.”  Deuteronomy 4:40

So, if God asks us to obey his commandments for our own good, he will in turn handle the things that are out of our control and we should and can take him at this word.

Remember, it is written in the Bible that

  1. “…for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.” Psalm 138:2
  2. “…Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.” Psalm 127:1
  3. “…It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” Romans 9:16

Therefore, when He sees that indeed we’re trying to live according to His Laws to the best of our abilities, He will guard, guide and protect us.
