Common Verses That May Confuse Us About The Proper Diet 5

Now, I am aware some Christians may still be in disagreement with this principle of clean and unclean foods and they may cite ‘lesser’ commandments in the Bible that people tend to disobey as justification for the fact that it may be okay to forego these laws.

Such examples include the prohibition against sexual intercourse during a woman’s menstrual period in Lev. 20: 18 and various verses in Leviticus 19 for example in Verse 19 of this chapter: it says “‘Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed., “‘Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.

Furthermore, check out the following verses from the same chapter:

27“‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

28“‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

Now, some Christians may say things like…”Well, everybody shaves….most people have tattoos, virtually everyone wears clothes of 2 different materials, and almost every crop is hybridized. So what’s the fuss with clean and unclean meats?”

Well, that is a wrong assessment.

Just because a lot of people now do these forbidden things, it doesn’t mean the laws have changed or that they are not sins. In fact, although the health consequences for disobeying these laws may not be as severe as eating unclean animals, it is noteworthy that disobeying these laws is in fact hazardous to our health.

Let’s go over some of the reasons why these laws should still be obeyed as they pertain to our well being:

1. Sexual Intercourse during Menstruation Prohibited in Leviticus 20:18: During menstruation, active bleeding occurs which means small blood vessels may be open. During intercourse, an exchange of fluids is bound to happen. Therefore, on an additional, yet related note, engaging in sexual intercourse during menstruation allows very easy access of bacteria to the blood, thus, easy transmission of sexually transmitted AND blood-borne diseases (Hepatitis B, etc.). Also, sex during menstruation can increase the risk in a woman for having yeast infections. It has been stated that perhaps the lower incidence of cancer of the cervix in Jewish females could very well be connected with their strict adherence to the law that forbids intercourse during menstruation.

2. “Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard” Leviticus 19 v 27:

It sounds like the Lord seems to prohibit shaving the beard and cutting the sides of the head. So being clean shaven and having the ‘marine’ haircut could actually mean one is disobeying God.

Well, we might as well admit that a lot of people unknowingly break this rule. However, from a health stand-point, there are actually sound reasons why the rules should not be disregarded. It is noteworthy that according to Professor Arnold Ehret, (Author of the Mucusless Diet Healing system), the whole concept of shaving begun in centuries long gone in an attempt to cut off some of these odor-organs of the body since the hair does conduct away the exhalations of the human body.

Properly, man in perfect health should exhale fragrance with his hair. Poets are right in comparing man with a flower and speak of the hair fragrance of women. So, we should recognize in the hair of the human a very important organ which aside from protective and warmth-regulating purposes has a highly interesting and useful destination. (Hence the reason why God set up the rule anyway)

Folks, the beard of a man is a secondary sex organ. Let’s face it; natural pheromones in men have to be transmitted by their hair. So bald men (no offense to anyone) and beardless men make for a second-rate’ sex quality in several respects. (See Judges 16: 13-18)

It’s telling that very few people in these modern times know what genuine “love vibrations” mean from a body with clean blood composed of such ingredients that produce electric current and static electricity sent out and received by wireless hair! So, unsurprisingly enough, God may have had other reasons in mind by saying men should not trim the edges of their beards or the …..

Personally, I don’t shave all the way. I use electric clippers with a guard and make sure some visible hair is left on a good portion of my face. Not necessarily because of what I have presented herewith, but simply because it helps to keep my face warm in the cold weather and I can avoid ingrown hairs and breakouts from excessive and skin-irritating shaving and apparently a lot of Black men can relate to that.

So, at least as far as skin health is concerned, there are some benefits to not shaving!

3. “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.” Leviticus 19 v 28: Well, a lot of people including Christians have tattoos. (Personally I don’t have or want a tattoo and I don’t see why I should do so simply because a lot of people seem to get them) Still, this doesn’t mean that violating this law is not sinful in the eyes of the Lord. Furthermore, modern physicians warn that tattoos and body-piercing carry a risk for contracting infectious diseases like hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis and HIV/AIDS (International Journal of Infectious Disease, 2001, 5(1), 27–34).

4. “Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material. Leviticus 19 v 19:

a. In regards to hybridized foods again, several persons point to some Biblical laws as being outdated or even ludicrous, however as has been mentioned in this article, God never gives us laws that will not be beneficial to us in the long run. Again, even in regards to hybridized or cross-bred fruit, this is also the case.

b. In regards to wearing clothes of two different kinds of materials: it’s worth mentioning that one benefit of observing the clothing laws is you end up with a higher quality of clothing for the same budget. Apparently, unmixed fabrics have to be made to a higher standard. Mixed fabric is a cheapening and cost-cutting measure.

In addition, ladies normally know much more about this matter than men. When certain threads are mingled together, it affects how things look after they are washed hence the reason why perhaps some clothes fade after a few washes, or emit odors that just can’t seem to be eliminated. It should be noted that some Bible Scholars and even Yoga Sages believe that the materials and fashion of  the clothes for modern man have made it impossible (or difficult) for him to secure his proper quota of the life-giving power of fresh air and sunshine that’s so essential to Great Health and happiness.

For one, wearing neckties, tucking the shirts, collars around the neck etc all constrict free blood flow to a significant degree and it should be noted that the direct rays of the sun on the naked body supply the electricity, energy and vitality to the human storage battery, renewing it with vigor strength and vitality. So wearing clothes of two kinds of fabrics could actually hinder sufficient absorption of sunlight into the body and may be one of the reasons why a lot of people have skin reactions such as excessive itching and flaky skin.

Friends, the bottom line is this, God is wiser than all of us and knows better. If He says things should be done a certain way, who are we to question Him. His laws are for our own benefits (even the ones that seem outdated, ludicrous or inconsequential) and this has been proven when it comes to so-called ‘lesser’ laws in Leviticus 19 as we have gone over in this article. When it comes to disregarding, disobeying or selectively obeying God’s laws, it appears there are more risks than benefits.

So, as you will deduce from my viewpoints as the author of this text, if God says don’t do, stack the odds in your favor and obey His wisdom.

Now, some other points that should not be overlooked are that if one reads the WHOLE of Leviticus chapter 19, you will see that God commands us to do such things as to:

1. Respect our parents in verse 3 (most Christians do that)

2. Keep his Sabbaths in verse 3 (well most Christians don’t. This is strange: we obey the first part of a VERSE and disregard the second?! …Well, that will be touched on elsewhere in this blog).

3. Not Steal or be fraudulent (verse 11)…

The list goes on.

In addition to the examples from this article, it should be noted that practically every Sunday, a collection plate or otherwise is passed out in most churches for Tithes and Offerings, and most Churches will readily support and ask for these to be given citing these popular verses: Malachi 3:8-10. Now, I totally agree with God’s instructions here and interestingly enough, some churches may even cite these verses in Leviticus 27:30-32.  Hmm, the same Leviticus that discusses Clean and Unclean meats that is. Now, if indeed we live by grace and the old testaments no longer apply (which is a completely wrong statement!), how come is it that Churches still endorse tithing and offering, yet virtually very few tell us to eat right…for our own good.

So, the point I am trying to make is why do we obey some verses (or parts of some verses) and disregard the rest as outdated or nailed to the cross or something to that effect?

Would we like it if our own children obeyed our rules selectively?

I think not.

So, remember, as it pertains to clean and unclean meats (and a bunch of other things in the Bible), Jesus hasn’t abolished anything and He said so himself in Matthew 5:17.

That being said, it should be noted that some verses in the Bible seem to be purposely misinterpreted by some old translators and this seems to be done in order to justify their own practices.

Not to offend anyone, but this reminds me of the verses:

1. “Ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.” —Jeremiah 23:36

2. Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you. Deuteronomy 4:2

Well, if I have been able to give substantial proof that Jesus has in fact NOT abolished the rules on clean and unclean meats, it is my hope that many believers who may happen to read this will simply do the right thing and eat properly for the sake of your health and that of your loved ones.

Remember, I am not saying you should not eat ANY meat. Far from it; even though I don’t eat any animal flesh, if you can’t be a fruitarian, you can still eat the flesh of CLEAN animals such as PROPERLY bred cows, chickens, and fish.

Besides, why would anyone want to eat the flesh of scavengers/filter feeders that the creature has designated to be the Garbage collectors of the eco-system.

Moreover, eating clean animals can be done safely by doing the following:

1. Making sure they are bled and slaughtered properly (to remove their blood)

2. Removing the obvious fat attached to their flesh and NOT frying the flesh to add any other form of fat.

3. Baking, broiling, grilling, boiling the flesh and simply using ONLY permissible sea-salt for flavoring.

So, really what’s the big deal in avoiding unclean animals like pork, shrimps, catfish?

I mean, would you really miss these animals if you can still eat the flesh of clean animals?

Come on now, let’s try to be reasonable here and just do what the Lord says!

That being said, it is time for a wake-up call in the Christian community when it comes to obeying all of God’s laws and when it comes to Diet and Health, it’s safe to say NOTHING has changed!
