Bible Tip #3 For Better Health-Observe Sexual Purity.
One of the current controversies swirling around sexual freedom in society is the necessity of practicing “safe sex.” However, Biblically, the truth is that there is only one kind of completely safe sex, and that is to live by the laws of the Bible regarding sexual behavior. Sexual practices should always be monogamous and always within the context of marriage.
“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18
“Marriage (between a man and woman-see previous verse) should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” Hebrews 13:4
“Whoever commits Sexual Immorality Lacks Sense, Those who do so destroy themselves” Proverbs 6:32
So, from simply reading the verses above, it should become clear that sexual immorality of ALL FORMS is not only spiritually wrong, but unhealthy…and hazardous. That being said, again, according to the Bible, there is only one kind of completely safe and SIN-FREE sex, and that is to live by the laws of the Bible regarding sexual behavior. Sexual practices should always be monogamous and always within the context of marriage.
Still, I am quick to add, we are all adults and we all have free will.
Even God hints at that in this verse: “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, SO THAT YOU AND YOUR DESCENDANTS MIGHT LIVE!” Deuteronomy 30:19
I believe we would all wisely make the right choice to obey not only God’s commandments for health (as discussed in this article), but ALL His commandments.
At this stage, I would like to point out the fact that there very well might be a link between eating properly and sexual purity.
As you have read in this article, unsurprisingly enough, some of the Biblically Unclean Meats and almost all the popular foods that people eat to day (which God has actually forbidden us to eat) not only affect our health and bring about a lot of sicknesses, but they actually could Affect One’s Sexuality and Gender Recognition BASED ON FACTS!
However, as it pertains to believers, let me share this information, if you look at Leviticus Chapter 20, God gives explicit laws on the Sexual Sins that should be avoided such as adultery, incest, bestiality, etc.
Now, it should also be noted that many Christians will readily frown on all the other acts of sexual immorality listed in Leviticus 18 and 20
Most Christians know that these are to be obeyed.
However, what I find strange or even disturbing is the selective obedience of the verses in that very same chapter. Most Christians obey all the other ones except the following:
25 ‘“You must therefore make a distinction between clean and unclean animals and between unclean and clean birds. Do not defile yourselves by any animal or bird or anything that moves along the ground – those that I have set apart as unclean for you.
SO, WHY IS THIS VERSE OVERLOOKED BY ALMOST ALL CHURCHES TODAY?
In fact, as you will soon discover, obeying this verse actually makes it easier to be sexually pure for the fact that it helps us to learn the act of restraint and temperance, which are some of the much-needed attributes of being followers of God’s word.
Hey, it can’t be a coincidence that:
- Controlling one’s appetite is paramount to being able to exercise self-control in other aspects of life. (Including sexual activities.)
- You are what you eat.
- Each time God gave mankind the instruction to ‘be fruitful and multiply’ (the purpose of human sexuality) he states what and how to eat (See Genesis 1:29 and Genesis 9:4)
- After God gives prohibition on Sexual sins in Leviticus 20, He reminds us of the necessity of eating the right items.
Therefore, suffice it to say that the selective obedience of verses in the Bible (especially when are interwoven and in the same chapter for that matter) should be reduced drastically, or altogether stopped. Our very lives and health could depend on doing this.
